Cory Simmons
Native English Speaker
Proficient in German
Born in Fort Worth, Texas (USA)
A native Texan, Cory was born and raised in Fort Worth, a city an hour west of Dallas. After completing high school, he moved to Austin, Texas, to study at the University of Texas at Austin, initially pursuing orchestral music performance, and later changing focus to urban studies. Nearly four years later, Cory decided to begin a new chapter in life and move to Berlin, where he now freelances as an English teacher.
A practicer of yoga for over six years, Cory is always seeking to learn and grow and to expand the edge of his comfort zone, i.e. the “learning curve.” Cory holds five years of experience in the food-service industry and held a variety of student-leadership positions throughout his education. He enjoys working and communicating with others and taking on new challenges. He strives to keep an optimistic attitude towards life and to view the world through an alternative and queer way of thinking. Some of the pillars of Cory’s teaching philosophy are to be kind to oneself, be curious, and remember to laugh!
Outside of teaching, some of Cory’s interests include health and fitness, cooking, music, reading and writing, and watching funny cat videos. He has been learning German since the beginning of his undergraduate education and hopes to begin learning more languages soon.
